Andrew J. Sackett

J.D. (Yale), Ph.D. (Yale)

MANAGING DIRECTOR

Dr. Sackett is responsible for the day-to-day operations and administration of LAS. He directs the work and resources of the organization, manages our teams, oversees communications with stakeholders, including clients and vendors, and generally ensures that operations go as smoothly as possible.

With a J.D. and a Ph.D. from Yale, Dr. Sackett’s practice and interests place him at the intersection of the law and social sciences. He is actively involved as a consulting expert in several ongoing cases dealing with asbestos and talc liability and works as a claims consultant for a number of asbestos trusts and trust advisory committees. At LAS, Dr. Sackett manages LAS’s litigation teams, drafts its reports, and works with our clients to ensure that LAS meets their needs.

Prior to joining LAS, Dr. Sackett practiced law for fifteen years. During that time, he was actively involved in trust matters involving such entities as the Manville Personal Injury Settlement Trust, the Federal-Mogul Asbestos Personal Injury Trust, and the Pittsburgh Corning Corporation Asbestos Personal Injury Settlement Trust, which hold money in trust for people injured by exposure to asbestos. In litigation, he has represented asbestos claimants in major bankruptcy cases such as those of W.R. Grace & Co. and Garlock Sealing Technologies, LLC, where contested estimation proceedings with hundreds of millions of dollars were at stake.

Whenever possible, he heads outdoors to hike, bike, and paddleboard, ideally in his home province of Nova Scotia, Canada.
