As a consultant at LAS, Dr. Dertouzos has worked with a broad set of private and public sector organizations, industry associations, and lawyers in matters related to mass torts, intellectual property rights, regulatory, anti-trust, and other legal issues. Select cases include Kaiser Aluminum, Specialty Products Holding Corporation, Garlock Sealing Technologies, and Bestwall LLC.
Prior to joining LAS, Dr. Dertouzos spent several years at RAND, including as RAND’s Director of Law, Business, and Regulation, Director of the Institute for Civil Justice, and a Senior Economist. His research and academic areas of interest include applied econometric analysis of public policy issues, labor markets, and public sector management. He is widely published, having authored dozens of publications both for RAND and elsewhere, and has taught at the University of Southern California, UCLA, University of Santa Clara, and Stanford University.
During his career, Dr. Dertouzos has directed dozens of projects designed to provide empirical evidence about the impact of market or regulatory interventions on economic outcomes of public policy interest. Multiple studies focused on issues central to the civil justice system, including: The legal and economic implications of wrongful termination, the impact of legal representation on workers compensation settlements, appropriate compensation for the survivors of military combat, and the impact of electronic discovery on the efficacy of civil litigation.
He is happiest when listening and dancing to live music, preferably Classic Rock or the Blues.
